Kremlin says considering sanctions against Naftogaz Ukrainy
MOSCOW, Jul 7 (PRIME) -- Sanctions on Ukrainian energy holding Naftogaz Ukrainy is being considered, presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on Friday.
Gazprom CEO Alexei Miller said on Thursday that Naftogaz Ukrainy refuses to accept Russian gas for transit at the Sokhranovka point but demands payment for the transit and had sent a "multibillion" claim against Russia to U.S. courts. Russia could retaliate with sanctions, he said.
Peskov said that Miller's statement was reasonable.
"It states the reasons, this is why this possibility is not ruled out," he said, referring to sanctions.
Moscow will monitor the situation closely and will not allow to harm its interests, he added.
